History of Led Zeppelin They were the quintessential hard rock band, igniting a collision of wild hedonism and heavy metal thunder. Formed in 1968, Led Zeppelin initially thought of names such as "The Whoopee Cushion," "The Mad Dogs" and "The New Yardbirds" until The Who's drummer Keith Moon remarked that the band would go down like a "Lead Zeppelin." The letter A of "Lead" was later dropped to avoid mispronouncing it as "leed." Jimmy Page asked Terry Reid to become Led Zeppelin's singer, but he declined and instead recommended Robert Plant, who in turn recruited his close friend John Bonham on drums. When bassist Chris Dreja opted out of the project to become a photographer, he suggested his mate John Paul Jones, and Led Zeppelin was complete. Now, more than 40 years since their formation, the legacy of Led Zeppelin still resounds... loudly! ----------------------- Led Zeppelin documentary video Format: DivX
